Berlin, 7 May 2014 – Starting on Wednesday (today), tools, the new expo and conference in Berlin, will be showing visitors how web-based tools can speed up and improve business processes and make them more efficient. This two-day event showcases web-based business applications and targets line managers in the digital economy. A broad range of innovative conference formats awaits visitor to tools, including 28 Success Stories, 34 Power Testing Workshops, a Crowdsourcing Area and a stage for presenting startups. The highlights of the conference programme are four keynote speeches and a high-level panel discussion. 69 companies will be showcasing their products and intelligent solutions for digitising business processes at the exhibition.
Dr. Christian Göke, Chief Executive Officer of Messe Berlin, and Matthias Ehrlich, President of the German Association of the Digital Economy, (BVDW) e.V., opened the event.
"With tools we are in touch with the industry’s needs", said Dr. Göke. "The event concept was developed in close coordination with leading providers of web-based solutions and startups from Berlin. In fact, tools itself belongs in that category. The innovative formats at the expo and conference have clearly attracted keen interest. The number of trade visitors who have registered has exceeded our expectations."
President of the BVDW Matthias Ehrlich emphasised that "Digitising corporate structures and processes is something that no longer only concerns companies in the digital economy. The digital transition is increasingly determining how companies in industry, commerce and the service sector plan and manage their internal and external business processes. Creating tools has produced a format which in our view was long overdue on the German market, and one which at last satisfies the wide-ranging needs of users for business information."
69 companies are exhibiting at tools. Besides specialist providers Cloudera, Netstock and Scopevisio other companies include Fujitsu, Intel, and SAP. For T-Systems Multimedia Solutions, which is also attending, the market for web-based applications is an important part of its business. cloud world, a new B2B marketplace for web-based software and services is also represented at tools with a lounge. Hall 18 on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds also features numerous startups who are exhibiting their innovative products and solutions in the Rising Star Area.
At tools the range of providers mirrors the five business divisions of nearly all companies, which also demand solutions in order to ensure work processes are flexible and efficient. These areas are HR & Collaboration, Finance & Controlling, Marketing & Sales, Operations & Supply Chain and Enabling Technologies & IT.
Presenting web-based tools along with reference customers
Four keynote speeches and a panel discussion are the highlights of the packed programme of conference events. The keynotes speakers are Univ.-Prof. Dr. Anton Meyer, Ordinarius for Business Studies and Marketing at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Dr. Heiner Genzken, Business Development Manager of Intel GmbH, Dr. Jörg Haas, founder and CEO of Scopevisio AG, and Philipp Riederle, a young entrepreneur. The topic of discussion is ´Social business, mobile workplace & digital natives: What tools do companies need and what ROI value do they deliver?´
Furthermore, at tools the two-day conference programme includes 28 Success Stories and 34 Power Testing Workshops. At the Success Stories users will be presenting their web-based tools along with their reference customers and giving decision-makers an insight into the practical uses and success of these products. At the Power Testing Workshops companies will have an opportunity to offer line managers a demo version of their processing tools for testing and to demonstrate their practical expertise.
The workshops will be taking place from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on both days of the event. Candidates will have 20 minutes to present their Success Stories and the Power Testing Workshops will take 30 minutes. tools has set up a special forum on the subject – the Crowd Area. On the Wednesday and Thursday, fascinating lectures on crowdsourcing and crowdtesting will be taking place here, with a focus on hypothetical examples and selected case studies. These include optimising shop functions, app tests, developing corporate strategies and internal communications. The companies attending the Crowd Area are Crowd Guru, inno-focus businessconsulting, mindsmash, RapidUsertests and testhub. 16 startups will be showcasing their companies in the Rising Star Area in Hall 18.
Presentation of the 'Best in eCommerce' awards
tools is also hosting the final of the ´Best in eCommerce´ awards. The IDG publications COMPUTERWOCHE, ChannelPartner, TecChannel and CIO have organised a competition to find the best eCommerce project on the German market. The awards will be presented on Wednesday evening. Celebrations will take place afterwards at the tools After Work Party at 7 p.m.
