CityCube Berlin – from vision to reality

Invitation to take a virtual tour – trade fair hall for hosting conferences due for completion by late 2013

Berlin, 16 March 2012 – For the moment the CityCube Berlin is nowhere to be seen. However, by taking a virtual tour, one can already visit the new trade fair hall where conferences will also be held. As of now, Messe Berlin invites visitors to take a special tour on its website at

The animated video begins with a bird's eye view of how the new trade fair, congress and event venue will be integrated into the existing grounds next to the Berlin Radio Tower. The visitor then slowly descends, entering the building to gain an impression of the spacious upper floor: the hall with no column supports and with a ceiling height of twelve metres is ideal for holding large conferences, exhibitions, concerts and catering events.

Using flexible partitioning the lower floor can be divided into a maximum of eight rooms for 400 to 2,000 people or into exhibition areas of varying dimensions. With five extra rooms providing space for around 200 people and with meeting rooms and a variety of small offices the CityCube Berlin is quite literally a multi-functional building. Events taking place here can host up to 10,000 attendees.

Very soon, what remains of the demolished Deutschlandhalle will be gone, after which work on the construction pit and the building shell can begin. Designed by Dresden-based architects CODE UNIQUE, the hall is due for completion by late 2013. In spring 2014 the first events will be held here.

This expansion of the exhibition grounds has become necessary to continue normal trade fair operations. Demand for space on the grounds now outstrips availability, particularly for the large leading trade fairs. Construction of the CityCube Berlin makes it possible to refurbish the ICC Berlin while holding the same amount of congresses as before.
