OPENING REPORT conhIT 2013

Record exhibitor numbers at the opening of Europe’s leading event for healthcare IT in Berlin

On Tuesday, 9 April, conhIT will be opening its doors on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, with 320 exhibitors from 14 countries due to attend. A full programme awaits visitors to the three-day show, Europe’s leading event for the healthcare IT sector, where they can find out everything about new healthcare IT solutions and the latest industry trends. Compared with last year exhibitor numbers have risen by 18 per cent, breaking the record set at the previous conhIT.

Around 6,000 trade visitors are expected to be in Berlin. Federal Minister of Health Daniel Bahr will be acting as patron of conhIT 2013.

“Everything the healthcare IT sector has to offer is on display in Berlin. Visitors and exhibitors can find all the important products and services at conhIT: vocational training courses at all levels at the Congress and Academy, products at the Industrial Fair, and Networking Events with opportunities for in-depth discussion“, said Bernhard Calmer , Chairman of the Board of the German Association of Healthcare IT Vendors (bvitg), which launched conhIT in 2008.

conhIT an international event – Belgium the partner country

Besides companies from Europe, exhibitors from Taiwan, Korea, Israel and the US will also be taking part. Once again, there is an official partner of conhIT, which this year will be Belgium. More than 20 Belgian companies will be presenting their innovative e-health projects in Berlin. Belgium will also be hosting its own Congress session, various Networking Events and numerous other events at conhIT.

Kris Peeters, the Minister President of Flanders, and Renier Nijskens, the Belgian ambassador, will be attending conhIT on behalf of the partner country. Jo Vandeurzen, the Flemish Health Minister, will also be at the event with an official delegation from Flanders.

“At 21 per cent, the percentage of foreign exhibitors at conhIT is twice last year’s figure, a new record. With Belgium as the partner country and all the trade visitors from around the world, conhIT has confirmed its role as the leading event for healthcare IT“, said Dr. Christian Göke, COO of Messe Berlin.

All the healthcare IT innovations at a glance

conhIT is the shop window of the healthcare IT industry. All the major market players and a host of well-established SME’s will be showcasing the IT products that will improve patient care and the quality of tomorrow’s healthcare industry. Covering 12,000 square metres, the Industrial Fair will provide visitors with an overview of all the products and services the healthcare industry has to offer. No other event has such a wide-ranging and concentrated display of products and services as conhIT in Berlin.

Innovative startups will also be making use of the opportunity that the Industrial Fair offers, as well as numerous trade associations, research institutions, universities and consultants. Medical technology and telematics will be featuring even more prominently at this year’s event. Special tours on selected topics will be drawing attention to the main themes of the Industrial Fair, such as mobility and interoperability.

Congress, Academy and Networking Events

The 13 Congress sessions, four Academy seminars and 99 Networking Events taking place at conhIT 2013 represent a much more extensive programme than in previous years. The quality of the event is outstanding as well, with the 90-strong speakers’ list equivalent to an industry who’s who. Usability and Mobility, Health Data Analytics and Data Security are just some of the many topics visitors can choose from at conhIT. Simply put, it means that conhIT offers industry insiders an outstanding opportunity to satisfy their thirst for knowledge and discuss the latest industry issues.

During the afternoons exhibitors and trade visitors will be able to exchange views on individual topics, discuss ideas and negotiate business deals. A wide variety of Networking Events will be on offer, ranging from workshops, hospital excursions, matchmaking sessions to relaxed evening events.

A free app is currently available from Google Play and app stores to everyone attending conhIT. Users can filter events by day, time and category and add them to their smartphone calendar.

conhIT as a career platform

Parallel with the growing demand for healthcare IT products there is also a rising need for qualified staff. conhIT offers both IT providers and hospital IT departments an ideal platform to introduce themselves as potential employers, both at the event itself and through the conhIT Career Guide. In addition to a special service for students looking for information on training courses and career opportunities there will also be a job exchange and Career get-together, which everyone visiting conhIT can attend. On 10 April, conhIT Recruiting Day, there will be numerous career-oriented events, including a career workshop, followed by the presentation of the award for young professionals for the best diploma on Healthcare IT.
