Berlin, 20 November 2013 – From 21 to 24 November 2013 BOAT & FUN BERLIN will be exhibiting “the whole world of boating and outdoor sports.“ On Wednesday evening (today) at the GALA Night of the Boats, in the presence of around 20 ambassadors from around the world, Andreas Statzkowski, Under-Secretary at the Berlin Senate Department for Internal Affairs and Sport, and Ingrid Maass, COO of Messe Berlin GmbH, will be cutting the ribbon to open the Berlin boating exhibition at the YACHTING display in the Sailing Hall (Hall 25).
From Thursday to Sunday, over a period of six days, 650 exhibitors will be displaying their water sports and water tourism products in twelve halls.
From 21 to 24 November 2014, Hall 26 at BOAT & FUN BERLIN will play host to spectacular competitions featuring Germany’s best wakeboarders. The specially constructed 1,000 by 50 metre pool at BOAT & FUN BERLIN combined with the WAKE MASTERS’ own Sesitec twin-tower setup provides ideal conditions for wakeboarders, allowing them to demonstrate spectacular jumps and show off their full riding skills. 23 November promises to be a particularly exciting day and will feature an open training session of the wakeboard elite. The highlight on 24 November will be the WAKE MASTERS contest. Janick Otto, a youngster from Berlin, is one of the hot candidates for a place among the top three.
The FUN section will be presenting traditional water sports such as surfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding, diving and stand-up paddling. Commenting, Werner Mocke, director at Messe Berlin, said: “At the Berlin boating exhibition we have placed a strong focus on adventure and are providing visitors with numerous opportunities to take part themselves, in activities that offer a close-up and fascinating experience of water sports.” In the pool in Hall 26 visitors can test their own skills at wakeboarding. Visitors to Hall 23 can try out diving in a container with built-in windows. One of the world’s most testing drill simulators has been set up in Hall 22, where angling enthusiasts can find out how hard it is to haul in a fish. In the pool in Hall 21 visitors can test the handling qualities of kayaks and canoes.
In the Sailing Hall (Hall 25), in cooperation with YACHT, the sailing magazine, a joint display has been set up on a jetty for the first time, providing enough space to “moor“ ten large keel yachts, including a Janneau 37, Bavaria Cruiser 37, Elan 32, Hornet 28, Sunbeam 28, Scangaard 26 and a Heol 7.4. These sailing boats are no longer being displayed on individual boat builders’ stands, but instead together on a large jetty, regardless of the brand. Visitors to the barely five-metre wide jetties can view these latest sailing boats and yachts as if they were in a harbour and gain an overview of the variety of design and equipment featured by these craft. Thus BOAT & FUN BERLIN will be recreating a perfect “on the water“ atmosphere at the boating exhibition inside the Messe Berlin display halls. Representing both national and regional interests, the German Sailing Association and the Berlin Sailing Association will both be attending the event. Measuring 11.55 metres, the Varianta 37 from Nordic Yachting (Hall 25, D01) is the largest yacht on show at BOAT & FUN BERLIN.
Halls 1 to 6 are reserved mainly for motorboats. The range of motorboats, motor yachts and exhibitors at BOAT & FUN BERLIN is unparalleled. Halls 2 and 4 are devoted mainly to boats measuring up to seven metres, including many hydroplanes made by popular makes such as Regal, FOUR WINNS, Stingray, Sea Ray, Bayliner, Quicksilver, Drago, Aqualine, Hammermeister, MasterCraft, as well as small craft, among them boats from Viking, Nordkapp and Inter. Bucking the current industry trend, there are significantly more large motor yachts on show in Berlin than in recent years. In Hall 3 a central boulevard has been set up to display motor yachts. To the left and right of the aisles tall boats from major shipbuilders are on display, including from Galeon, Bavaria, JEANNEAU, Scandinavia, Balt, Rapsody, da Vinci Yachts and Delphia Escape. Measuring 12.49 metres, the Jetten 41 (Hall 3, C12) is the largest motor yacht on show at BOAT & FUN BERLIN.
In close cooperation with leading canoe manufacturers a Canoe and Kayak Discovery World has been set up in Hall 21 at BOAT & FUN BERLIN. The Angler World is an independent event at BOAT & FUN BERLIN and has become a popular meeting place for anglers. Hall 22 features everything to warm the heart of sports and professional anglers.
The inclusion of BOAT & FUN BERLIN in the Virtual Market Place® means it is Germany’s first boating exhibition to offer an innovative Boat Exchange tailored to the needs of the water sports industry.
