Berliner Funkturm goes green on St. Patrick´s Day
Messe Berlin supports Global Greening
Berlin, 16 March 2015: Every year during the International Green Week the Berliner Funkturm is lit up in green. Now, for the first time on 17 March, St. Patrick´s Day, it will light up in green together with other landmarks around the world. Ireland’s national holiday marks the death of the catholic missionary and country’s patron saint on 17 March every year. Now, in recognition of St. Patrick and Ireland, Global Greening celebrations will witness famous landmarks bathed in green light around the world. This is the first time that Messe Berlin is supporting Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening initiative, and tomorrow at sunset will join other major cities when the Berliner Funkturm lights up in green, the national colour of Ireland, along with other world-famous landmarks, including Sydney Opera House, the London Eye, New York’s Empire State Building, North America’s Niagara Falls and the Statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. On 17 March the Irish and friends of Irish culture around the world will be celebrating this national holiday and draping themselves and their surroundings in green as an expression of their solidarity and good relations with Ireland.
